Families of Veterans – Support & Guidance Services
At Veterans Welfare Group, we understand that support for veterans doesn’t stop with the individual who served. Behind every ex-service member are their family members, spouses, children, and parents who have also made sacrifices, often quietly and without recognition. That’s why our mission includes providing practical and emotional support for veteran families across the UK.
We’re here to help families navigate post-service life by offering the tools, support, and guidance they need. Whether it’s emotional and trauma support, accessing financial assistance (such as pensions, benefits, and widow’s pensions), or both physical and mental rehabilitation, our goal is to ensure that no veteran or family member feels left behind.
Why Support for Veteran Families Is Essential
When a service member returns home, the transition affects not only the individual but also the entire family. Spouses, children, and close relatives often assume the roles of caregivers.
Families often face ongoing emotional stress, uncertainty about income, and the challenges of adjusting to civilian life. By offering the right resources, we help families become stable, informed, and better equipped to manage this transition.
Key Challenges Faced by Veteran Families
Emotional strain
Adjusting to new routines and supporting loved ones coping with trauma or PTSD.
Financial pressure
Managing the loss of military income and difficulties accessing available benefits.
Isolation
Experiencing a disconnect from civilian communities and a lack of peer support.
Uncertainty
Facing challenges with housing, education, and navigating post-service healthcare.
Our role is to help families understand the options available and guide them toward solutions that match their unique needs.

From practical advice to emotional support, everything we offer is shaped by listening to the families we serve. Our goal is to make it easier to manage daily challenges and long-term planning, without unnecessary stress or confusion.

We believe that if a loved one’s military service has impacted you, you should have access to guidance, care, and resources. Whether you’re adjusting to life after discharge or facing ongoing challenges, we’re here to help.
You may be eligible if you are the spouse or long-term partner of a veteran, a child or dependent living under their care, or a family member providing daily support to them. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to access services, particularly if they are assisting a younger or dependent veteran through the transition to civilian life.
We also offer support to those who are recently bereaved and adapting to life after loss. Families of veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, RAF, and Reserves, are equally welcome.
