Neurological Disorders
Veterans may suffer from a range of conditions due to their service, and neurological disorders can be some of the most debilitating. Injuries that affect the brain can have far-reaching consequences that present permanent disabilities to the service member; if untreated, some neurological disorders may worsen.
Some of the below conditions have been reported to us by service personnel:
- Brain Injury: a nearby blast, blow to the head, fall or accident can cause a varying level of brain injury with complicated secondary symptoms.
- Epilepsy: this condition can be caused from head trauma and brain injury, resulting seizure activity can be problematic and may require life long medication and monitoring.
- Neuropathy: exposure to altered environments and chemicals can cause pain, numbness and prickling sensations to various parts of the body.
- Sciatica and nerve damage: This pain may be due to an injury to the spine, a herniated disk, a bone spur, or pressure on the nerve. Veterans who suffer from sciatica often experience debilitating pain in their lower back along with weakness, burning, or tingling that usually extends down one leg or the other.
If you are experiencing any of these conditions, arising from your time in service, please get in touch for further support
