Veterans Welfare Group Supports the Bootneck Yomp 25

What is the Bootneck Yomp 25?

The Bootneck Yomp 25 is an endurance speed march from John O’Groats to Land’s End, designed to honour the grit and determination of Royal Marines past and present.

Royal Marine veterans will cross a course continuously from 31st October to 8th November, from John O’Groats to Land’s End, that reflects the physical and mental resilience required in service, while raising funds for a range of military and non-military charities. The event is open to both veterans and civilians, promoting a shared sense of purpose across communities.

The challenge encourages individuals and teams to test their limits while contributing to a greater cause. By walking the distance, usually through varied types of terrain, participants not only raise awareness but also directly support organisations that provide critical services to former service personnel and their families.

Veterans Welfare Group’s Role & Why We're Involved

At Veterans Welfare Group, we believe in taking an active role in the causes that directly impact the lives of those we support. The Bootneck Yomp 25’s goal, to stand beside veterans, raise awareness of their challenges, and support practical solutions that improve their well-being, fits in and mirrors what our team at Veterans Welfare Group aim to achieve. That’s why we’re proud to support this initiative.

Our Objectives in Supporting the Yomp

  • Awareness – Share the event across our network and audience
  • Fundraising – Promote donations to aligned veteran charities
  • Participation – Encourage community involvement and sign-ups
  • Visibility – Strengthen the connection between veterans and civilians

Charities Making a Difference

One of the most compelling aspects of the Bootneck Yomp 25 is its commitment to supporting a range of charitable organisations. These include well-established military-focused charities as well as non-military causes, creating a broader network of support and outreach.

Some of the beneficiaries are charities like Combat Stress, which provides mental health support for former service personnel, and the Royal Marines Charity, which offers lifelong assistance to serving and retired Royal Marines and their families. The funds raised also support other community-focused organisations, ensuring the event’s impact extends beyond the military sphere.

Why The Bootneck Matters & How it Directly Supports Veterans

The Bootneck Yomp 25 is more than a physical challenge. For many veterans, events like this are gateways to reconnecting with a sense of purpose, routine, and community, elements that can often be difficult to re-establish after leaving the Armed Forces.

In broader terms, the event creates a visible, relatable platform for the public to engage with the realities of military transition. It helps break down barriers between military and civilian communities and opens up conversations about long-term veteran care, mental health, and the need for sustained support networks.

Help Us Make a Difference

As well as watching the Bootneck Yomp 25, it’s an opportunity to support people and causes that matter. Whether you’re walking the route, spreading the word, or contributing financially, your involvement adds to the collective effort to strengthen support for veterans and their communities.

We invite individuals, families, and businesses to participate in any way they can. Every action taken helps charities like Combat Stress and the Royal Marines Charity continue their critical work. As part of our commitment, we encourage supporters to contribute to the official event platform.
